Ed Williams Teacher of the Year Award

In conjunction with West Tennessee History Day, the Shelby County Historical Commission is seeking nominations the 3rd Annual Ed Williams Teacher of the Year Award.
The late Ed Williams was a Memphian and longtime engineer, legislator and author. He was the second Shelby County Historian for the County of Shelby serving 1994-2013. He received his Masters of Arts in History from the University of Memphis in 1974. He was a member of the Tennessee Historical Society, Forrest Camp # 215 of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and West Tennessee Historical Society. Dedicated to encouraging our youth to study the past, Mr. Williams could always be counted on to serve as a judge at the annual West Tennessee History Day District Contest.
Eligibility is restricted to teachers whose primary duty is history instruction at the middle and high school level.
Nominations should take the form of a one-page summary of the nominee’s qualifications for the award, addressing specifically the ways in which she or he has advanced the study of history in his or her school/district. Each nomination must be accompanied by one letter of support. If you are nominating yourself, please arrange for your letter of support to be submitted separately from the nomination letter.
